About BWC Jigs

I have been fishing since I was a little kid. The thrill of catching something hiding under water has always been an adrenaline rush. We didn’t have high school fishing teams when I was in high school, so I never really thought about fishing for a living. When my son started fishing for his high school team, it got me to thinking about different aspects of fishing. 

I got tired of going to the store looking for jigs and always finding colors close to what I wanted but always thought what it would be like to make my own-colored jigs, so one day I decided to start making my own jigs. Then I started to make them for my brother and cousin. Next thing you know, I have people texting me and Facebook messaging me asking if I would make them some jigs to buy.

Now I have jigs in 14 different states, not counting Alabama. I have made jigs for MLF Bass Pro angler Brad Knight, NPFL angler Corey Null, and various other anglers. Now, I have 3 MLF Toyota Series anglers, 3 MLF Phoenix Boat Series anglers, and 3 high school anglers on the BWCJ pro staff.

I take pride in offering the best customer service on the market. I offer hand tied or silicone collared jigs, as well as Texas Neds and Screw Lock Shaky Heads. I also color match jigs, so if you have an old favorite jig you like to use but can’t find any more of them, I can match you up with a new one. If you want a custom color, I can do that as well. I also offer several other lead-based lures as well.

I get my skirts from two places, siliconetabs.com and Fishingskirts.com. I only use one type of paint and that is Pro Tec Powder Paint. Once I dip the heads in the paint, I bake them at 350 for 22 minutes to harden the paint. I spend 45 minutes to an hour in my driveway, at least once a month, casting painted jig heads up and down the street, beating them against the pavement and concrete to see how long it takes me to beat the paint off the heads. I want to make sure that the paint is durable enough to bang against rocks and docks.

It is super fun to make these lures. It started out as a hobby and has slowly became a small business. I get new orders all the time from various new customers. I love fishing and all the ins and out of bass fishing. Being able to catch fish on lures I made is an awesome feeling but to know that other guys are catching fish on the lures I made is even a better feeling.
